cars and our health

For many we find driving to and throw a stressful and not a pleasant experience but a essential means of travel. This is because places are not easy assessable to reach. We all want to be environmentally friendly these days and the thought of polluting the air is not a nice thought. The toxic fumes may have effects on our health as well as the environment . If we use the car 30 per cent less this have a positive effect on reducing air pollution and improvement in health would be a positive effect. (http://www.nutramed.com/environment/cars.htm)

Researchers at princeton university has made a interesting discovery about brains and exercise on rats. They found brain cells respond differently to stress with exercise to those that have not. It has been know that exercise helps the creation of new neurons (brain cells). Therefore more we leave the car at home the less anxious society we will become. (http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/11/18/phys-ed-why-exercise-you-less-anxious/?)

Not only would we be less anxious but we could be healthier in many other ways and this could have an knock on effect on the national health service there could be less accidents on the road due to fewer cars less Asama due to better air pollution the health effects could be endless.

75 per cent of UK people live close to a national cycle route to find theses routes you can look up www.sustrans.org.uk or DirectGov.

Therefore using the car has made us in some cases lazy which has had an impact on every ones health. It is more convenient to get in the car but it is at a cost.
